Our Story
So… who are Fraser & Lewis? They’re real — my two boys, and the reason our family business carries their name.
I’m Vanessa — Mam to Fraser and Lewis, wife, and the woman behind the jewellery, gifts, markets, website, endless boxes and the “I’ve had another idea…” conversations my family have learned to smile through.
My journey with jewellery started long before Fraser & Lewis. I’ve worked within the jewellery and gifting industry for over 25 years, and by the age of just 24, I was managing a jewellers.
I loved the jewellery, of course, but what I really fell in love with were the people and the stories behind what they were buying:
- The engagement ring someone was terrified to choose.
- The special birthday.
- The new baby.
- The anniversary.
- The gift for a friend who needed reminding they were loved.
- The piece bought in memory of someone who was no longer here.
And my favourite reason of all… “I saw this and thought of you.”
After all these years, I still believe those are the gifts that mean the most.
Eventually, I decided to take everything I’d learned and create something of my own. And choosing the name was the easy bit. Fraser & Lewis — my boys. What followed wasn’t quite so easy.
There have been early mornings, late nights, markets, events, stock absolutely everywhere, plenty of mistakes, lots of learning and more “What have I got myself into?” moments than I care to admit.
But slowly, our little family business grew. And behind me through all of it has been my husband — the man who supports me, encourages me and somehow still listens when I announce yet another new idea. And without really knowing it, he inspired one of the most personal parts of Fraser & Lewis.
Scribbled with Love
My husband has a tattoo on his arm of a scribbled, tangled head. When I asked him what it meant, he explained that it represented how his head sometimes feels — scribbled, tangled and full of thoughts.
I remember thinking about the man behind that tattoo and saying something that would eventually become so much more:
Even when his head feels scribbled, he always shows us love.
And that was it. Scribbled with Love. No branding agency. No big business meeting. No carefully planned marketing campaign — just a tattoo, a conversation and the man who has always stood beside me.
We all have our scribbles.
Because the more I thought about it, the more I realised it wasn’t only his story. We overthink. We worry. We have brilliant days and rubbish ones. We laugh, cry, love, lose people, make memories and somehow keep going through all the beautifully messy bits in between.
Our heads don’t have to be perfectly untangled for our hearts to be full of love. And that’s what Scribbled with Love became about — real people, real emotions and the things we sometimes struggle to put into words.
So when you see Fraser & Lewis, you’re seeing the names of my boys. When you see Scribbled with Love, there’s a little piece of my husband in there. And somewhere amongst it all is me — still choosing jewellery, creating gifts, meeting customers, packing boxes and having approximately 427 ideas at once.
I set out to build a business. Somewhere along the way, my family became the story behind it. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
